Natural vs. Chemical solution for dandruff

Natural vs. Chemical solution for dandruff

Dandruff is a hectic problem and we all agree about it. And, to resolve this issue we try various solutions. Some of us try natural solutions and some try chemical solutions. But have you ever wondered what is the difference between these products? This article is especially for you if you don’t know. Let’s get started with today’s blog.

Dandruff Treatments

Firstly, let us understand the term dandruff treatment. Dandruff treatments are methods for removing or controlling itching and flaking on your scalp. Brushing your hair and using a dandruff shampoo are the first two things to try. Brushing your hair down from the scalp with regular, strong strokes will transport the oil away from your scalp, where it and skin cells can accumulate and cause dandruff. Moving it through your hair strands keeps it lustrous and healthy.

Chemicals Solutions

Not all dandruff shampoos are the same. Some have distinct active components, such as:

  • Coal tar preparations
  • Pyrithione zinc Salicylic acid and sulphur
  • Salicylic acid
  • Selenium sulphide
  • Ketoconazole

If one shampoo initially controls dandruff but then loses its effectiveness, you may need to switch to another. You should also take precautions if you opt to use shampoo containing coal tar. Coal tar heals dandruff by causing skin cells on your scalp to die and flake off more slowly, but there are several factors to keep in mind:

  • It causes allergic reactions in certain individuals.
  • It can modify the colour of lighter-coloured hair, fingernails, skin, and clothing.
  • You must keep it away from any cuts, damaged skin, infections, and your eyes.
  • It may make your skin more sensitive to sunlight; avoid the sun for 24 to 72 hours after taking it.
  • It is not recommended to be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women.

Natural Solutions

Aside from chemical-based dandruff shampoos, a few other items might assist. Managing your stress, for example, could assist with flaking, or you could try some of these natural therapies. They are either moisturising or may be beneficial against bacteria or fungi:

  1. Coconut Oil

Begin by massaging 3–5 teaspoons of this into your scalp, then wait an hour before shampooing your hair.

  1. Aloe Vera

Just before shampooing, massage a small amount into your scalp.

  1. Apple cider vinegar

Apply a quarter cup of apple cider vinegar on your scalp and a quarter cup of water.. Allow it to sit for at least 15 minutes before thoroughly rinsing your scalp.

  1. Aspirin

Mix two aspirins with your shampoo, then shampoo your hair. Allow it to sit and get settled for two minutes before rinsing.

Tea tree oil, a byproduct of the Australian tea tree, has been found in certain tests to aid with dandruff, but more research is needed. It may irritate your skin or trigger an allergic reaction in some situations.

Natural dandruff solutions are effective, but they are slow. You have to have patience if you are choosing a natural solution. You will not see side effects if you are choosing a natural solution to get rid of dandruff.

Natural vs. Chemical Dandruff Solutions

Your present shampoo and conditioner bottles may promise ‘defined curls,’ a ‘natural glow,’ or ‘deep moisture.’ It is sometimes too good to be true, and what appears to be wonderful for your hair may be causing it more damage. Traditional shampoo and conditioner bottles may contain synthetic chemicals and contaminants. Your hair will appear clean at first, but it has been stripped of all-natural oils and coated in hazardous substances. Your hair then gets reliant on the product, causing you to use it more frequently, inflicting additional hair and follicle damage unwittingly.

Natural hair care products contain vitamins, nutrients, and minerals that promote the growth of your hair. Your hair will absorb all of the natural goodness from the components without the effect of synthetic chemicals, resulting in healthy hair growth, increased strength, and moisture retention. There are a few things to look for if you’re not sure how to identify the difference between the two. Use bottles and brands from:

  • Paraben Free
  • Sulphate Free
  • Silicone Free
  • Use All-Natural Ingredients

Final Words

You can start trying some natural and home remedies for treating dandruff and then start trying some chemical solutions. But remember there might be some side-effects of it. If you still don’t get the results then consult your doctor if you’re still scratching and shedding after using over-the-counter remedies. In severe cases of dandruff, you may need to use a prescription shampoo or topical medicine.
