Male pattern baldness and dandruff

Male pattern baldness and dandruff

Dandruff is extremely common. People who have dandruff or dandruff-like symptoms may have hair loss, especially if the dandruff is severe. Dandruff alone is not the cause of hair loss for men. Instead, it is the underlying cause of dandruff that causes hair loss. However, severe dandruff can cause scalp or hair follicle damage, leading hair to shrink or stop growing. Anyone who feels dandruff is causing hair loss should consult a dermatologist to rule out other causes. This article investigates the relationship between dandruff and hair loss in men. Let us begin.

About Male Pattern Baldness

Male pattern baldness, also known as androgenic alopecia, is the most prominent kind of hair loss in men. According to the National Library of Medicine (NLM), more than half of all males over the age of 50 will experience some degree of male pattern baldness.

Causes of Male Pattern Baldness

One of the primary causes of male pattern baldness is genetics or having a family history of baldness. According to research, male pattern baldness is connected to male sex hormones known as androgens. Androgens are hormones that regulate hair growth among other things. Every single hair on your head has a growth cycle. This growth cycle diminishes and the hair follicle decreases in men with male pattern baldness, resulting in shorter and finer hair strands. Each hair’s development cycle finally ends, and no new hair grows in its place.

Male pattern baldness is often inherited and has no detrimental consequences. However, more serious causes of baldness include certain malignancies, medicines, thyroid disorders, and anabolic steroids. Consult your doctor if you experience hair loss after starting new medications or if it is accompanied by other health issues. Doctors use hair loss patterns to diagnose male pattern baldness. They may conduct a medical history and physical examination to rule out certain health diseases as the reason, such as fungal scalp conditions, dandruff, or nutritional deficiencies.

A rash, redness, soreness, peeling of the scalp, hair breaking, patchy hair loss, or an unusual pattern of hair loss may be caused by a health problem or dandruff. A skin biopsy and blood testing can be asked by the doctor to diagnose the illnesses causing hair loss.

Who is in Danger?

Male pattern baldness can start in your adolescence, but it is more common in adult males, with the likelihood increasing with age. Genetics plays a significant role. Men who have male pattern baldness in close relatives are considered to have a higher risk. This is especially true if their relatives are on their mother’s side of the family.

Male pattern baldness occurs when hair loss begins at the temples or crown of the head. Some males develop a single bald patch. Others notice their hairlines receding into an “M” shape. The hairline of some men will continue to recede until all or most of the hair is gone.

Hair loss Treatment Methods

If other health concerns are not the cause, medical treatment is not required. However, procedures are available for men who are unhappy with their looks and want to appear to have a fuller head of hair.

  1. Hairstyles

Hair loss in men with limited hair loss can sometimes be concealed with the correct haircut or hairstyle. Request a creative cut from your hairstylist to make thinning hair appear thicker.

  1. Using Wigs

Wigs can be used to conceal thinning hair, receding hairlines, or full baldness. They are available in a wide range of styles, colors, and textures. Choose wig colors, styles, and textures that are comparable to your actual hair for a more natural look. Experienced wig stylists can help with wig styling and fitting for a more natural look.

  1. Hair Weaves

Wigs that are woven into your natural hair are known as hair weaves. You’ll need plenty of hair to stitch the weave into. The benefit of weaves is that they always stay on, even when swimming, showering, or sleeping. The problem is that they must be resewed anytime new hair grows, and the sewing process can damage your natural hair.

Summary

There is currently no technique to avoid male pattern baldness. According to one idea, stress causes hair loss by raising the body’s production of sex hormones. You can relieve stress by engaging in relaxing activities such as walking, listening to soothing music, and spending more time alone.
