Home Remedy For Dandruff–Henna

Dandruff is a common scalp problem prevalent in almost 50% of the human population across the globe. It causes dryness of the scalp and irritation. Dandruff leads to excessive itching that may lead to scalp inflammation in many cases. The causes of dandruff are ample including weather, hormonal changes, bacterial overgrowth, and much more.

Among these, there are traditional Indian herbs that help to treat this condition through deep conditioning, eliminating oil from the scalp, and clearing dirt residues. One of those herbs is henna which helps to treat dandruff.

This blog will concentrate on why and how henna can be used to treat dandruff.

Benefits of henna hair treatment

Henna is most commonly used to dye hair red to give you a reddish hue. But the henna application for hair care is said to have many additional advantages.

  1. With any bacteria or infections, its antifungal and anti-microbial properties can help.
  2. It has vitamin E in it, which can make your hair strands softer.
  3. Its protein and antioxidant content can lower your risk of premature aging of the skin and hair.
  4. If combined with a moisturizing ingredient, it can help your hair become stronger and more glossy.
  5. It is said to unclog your pores and remove any oil buildup on your scalp.
  6. Additionally, it is said to relax you and relieve any scalp itching.
  7. pH levels are balanced using it and also helps in reducing dandruff.

These qualities make henna suitable for treating dandruff in hair. A naturally occurring fungus called Malassezia Globosa is the root of dandruff. This fungus consumes and degrades any extra oil that may have accumulated on your scalp. The by-products of this oil breakdown cause reactions in half the world, which cause itching, redness, and flakes of dead skin cells on the scalp.

Homemade henna hair packs work wonders to improve the condition of your hair. In this way, you can get rid of dandruff while also maintaining long, silky hair growth. You can make a variety of hair packs at home for the same purpose, and by doing so, you can give your hair the best nutrition possible.

1. Egg, henna, and yoghurt for dandruff

To make a paste, combine 2 tbsp of henna powder and 1 tbsp of shikakai powder with some water. Allow this to soak all night. Add one egg and one tablespoon of curd the following morning. Apply this directly to your hair’s lengths and roots, then leave it in place for 45 minutes. Use a gentle shampoo and cold water to remove it. Once a week, do this to get a gorgeous, shiny mane.

2. Henna and banana pack for dandruff

Make a thick paste out of 2 tbsp of henna powder and some water, then let it sit for the night. In the morning, blend a ripe banana into the paste and set it aside. Use this pack in place of conditioner when you regularly shampoo your hair. Apply it on the scalp and wash it off after half an hour with cold water.

3. Henna and Multani mitti pack for dandruff

To make a smooth paste, combine 2 tablespoons of Multani mitti and 2 tablespoons of henna with some water. Before going to bed, apply this to your hair and cover it with an old towel to prevent soiled sheets. In the morning, wash the pack off with gentle shampoo. To cleanse your scalp and stop hair loss, repeat once per week.

4. Henna and amla pack for dandruff

To make a paste, combine 1 cup of amla powder, 3 tablespoons of henna powder, 2 tablespoons of fenugreek powder, and some water. Lemon juice and an egg white should be added to the mixture, and it should soak for an hour. Apply this directly to your hair’s lengths and roots and leave it in for 45 minutes. Wash it off with mild shampoo to boost hair growth.

5. Henna and coffee pack for dandruff

One tablespoon of instant coffee powder should be boiled with water in a pot for a few minutes before being removed from the heat. Pour the coffee into a bowl with 5 tbsp of henna while it’s still warm. Check to make sure there are no lumps. Sections of your hair should be painted with the henna and coffee mixture, being careful to cover the roots. After leaving the pack on for three to four hours, rinse your hair with a mild shampoo and normal water before conditioning it.
